Proof that photographer and director are not one in the same. Mute this video less you want to hear something not unlike a Goo Goo Dolls song. If this is all what “living” covers are about, then save for the glorious resolution of the Red Camera, there’s not much beyond some weird borderline territory of shitty music video and softcore porn. To top it all off, the actual cover of “the sexiest woman alive” just plain.. sucks. Color me disappointed.

Philip Glass – Sesame Street – Geometry of Circles
by MK on October 6, 2009
Thanks to Kottke for finding this gem from the past. A Philip Glass composed piece that aired on Sesame Street to stimulate learning in children. My aunt just had a baby and it’s only now I realize just how wonderfully deranged the world of children learning videos are.

You’ll feel as though you’ve taken a few tabs after watching this strangely edited/remixed clip of Captain K on a voyage to the great beyond.

Happy Kingdom- a piece by Pete Candeland for Coke Zero

Eye-candy via Pete Candeland who did the terrific animations for Beatles Rock Band. Despite being an advertisement, it’s hard not to admire the strong visual aesthetic in his work.

Eric Wareheim forgoes the crackheads this time for a go-around at Depeche Mode’s Hole To Fill — complete with the signature style and material you’d expect from the man who did the Major Lazer vid.

This is more a beautiful visualization than music video, but it’s enchanting to the eyes nonetheless. Whispy colorful plumes of smoke moving to the melodies of this song.
George Brett Auto-Tuned [NSFW]
by MK on September 22, 2009
Sure, we may be at 14mins 30seconds mark for anything auto-tuned but the underlying song + the inter-cut footage really make this. video.
Though some thoughts kept resurfacing during my second viewing –
-Did he not know there was a camera there?
-What’s a double tapered shit?
-George Brett should really look into his dietary habits if he shits his pants about twice a year.
Cinnamon Chasers – Luv Deluxe [music vid]

**Shot entirely on the Canon 5D Mark II w/ a custom face mounted rig — Canon Lenses used: 14mm (f2.8) & 24mm (f1.4)**
I’m astounded by the way the Mark II has created its own mini-revolution in video. While there are still a fair number of limitations in how it captures and the lack of customized settings, it’s pretty evident that filmmakers have managed to get around these issues. And really, when you see get to see the footage through all this nice 35mm glass, it looks so good it sort of outweighs everything else.
A nice video with a fun sense of narrative that could’ve gotten hokey but never quite drifted into that territory while making great use of breaking structure.
